Job Description Summary
A major part of the Netter Center's work is mobilizing the vast
resources of the University to help transform traditional
neighborhood schools into innovative university-assisted community
schools (UACS). University-assisted community schools educate,
engage, empower, and serve all members of the community in which
the school is located. University-Assisted Community Schools engage
students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving. The UACS
Evaluation and Research Coordinator will lead and supervise UACS
data and evaluation activity coordination, supporting FT staff, and
supervising the FT Data Associate, as well as graduate and
undergraduate student data staff.
Job Description
Founded in 1992, the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community
Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing
civic and community engagement at Penn. It brings together the
resources and assets of both the University and the wider community
to help solve universal problems such as poverty, health
inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal
education as they are manifested in the University's local
geographic area of West Philadelphia and Philadelphia at large. The
Netter Center develops and helps implement democratic, mutually
transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West
Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice,
and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the
community. The Netter Center works with and serves as a model for
other higher education institutions across the United States and
around the world.
Duties/Job Responsibilities:
The UACS Evaluation and Research Coordinator will lead and
supervise UACS data and evaluation activity coordination,
supporting FT staff, and supervising the FT Data Associate, as well
as graduate and undergraduate student data staff. They will work as
part of a team with other Netter Center staff and school partners
to implement data collection, evaluation and research protocols.
The position will supervise funder-required and other data
collection plans and present information to the team for
professional learning and program improvement. The UACS Evaluation
and Research Coordinator will support the UACS team to develop a
better understanding of our UACS participation as a whole, and how
our data can be used to improve the program. The position will be
responsible for organizing grant reporting and data collection to
meet funder requirements with attention to sharing the details of
program improvement across the UACS team.
This position will also recruit and supervise Penn students and
cultivate and support Academically Based Community Service (ABCS)
courses and Penn student groups and individuals that support UACS
program evaluation activity. This place-based position is rooted at
the Netter Center and local schools and helps coordinate data
collection activities with an emphasis on UACS program promotion
and improvement.
Primary responsibilities of this role include: Supporting program
evaluation and funder data management, recruitment, hiring and
supervision of PT data collection staff, FT UACS Data Associate
staff and Penn student data collection teams; implementation of
data collection plans; support the Director of Evaluation and
Research evaluation components; support some professional
development of data collection staff and Penn students. A component
of the position will be to further develop the educational
frameworks of UACS data and evaluation to support programming. The
position works with staff and partners to select evidence-based
curriculum most appropriate and effective for their audience and
will report to Regina Bynum, the UACS Director of Teaching and
Learning.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree and 2 years to 3 years of experience or
equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Master's or equivalent degree preferred. Experience supporting
public health programs or projects required. The ideal candidate
has at least 3 years of experience specifically working in K-12
schools with grant-funded programs. A strong candidate will have
experience in urban education, supervision, program management and
evaluation. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and
foster high quality connections is critical. Must be collaborative,
flexible, and work productively with diverse groups.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.

$55,000.00 - $61,000.00 Annual Rate
Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications,
experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the
requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges
based on external market data for the job's level. Internal
organization and peer data at Penn are also considered.
